Indoor Planting:
Sow the seeds 5mm deep in trays of moist compost, be careful not to over-water. Store in a warm place, an airing cupboard is an ideal location. Ensure that the compost is moist at all times
Growing On:
When the seedlings are strong enough to handle, they can be transplanted into bigger pots or trays. Be careful when easing the roots out as they can be easily damaged. Don't overcrowd the plants. Keep the pots in a warm, light position and turn regularly. Once all chance of frost has passed, the vegetables can be transplanted into growing beds outside
Outdoor Planting:
Carrot: March - April (Keep well watered in dry conditions)
Cauliflower: March - June (Prefers a well cultivated soil)
Cabbage: March - July (Feed regularly with a liquid fertiliser)
Broccoli: June - July (Keep free from weeds)
Sow seeds 1.5mm deep direct in flowering location, keep soil moist. For the Broccoli & Cabbage keep 18" (45cm) between rows. For the Carrot keep 12" (30cm) between rows and thin to 4" (10cm) and the Cauliflower 20" (50cm) between rows
Cauliflower All Year Round
A traditional variety and firm favourite, producing large white heads with an excellent flavour (Harvest: June - October)
Broccoli Green Calabrese
A quick growing variety, producing mild flavoured large green heads, Ideal for freezing. (Harvest: August - September)
Carrot Early Nantes
As its name suggest this is an early variety producing blunt ended carrots of excellent flavour. Ideal for freezing (Harvest: May - July)
Cabbage Greyhound
A popular variety for early crops, producing pointed heads with a wonderful flavour (Harvest: June Onwards)
